Graphic & Web Design Pit-Falls
Even if you don’t choose to use us, we hate to see companies go down the wrong path. Below is a list common pit-falls companies sometimes fall into when designing their website or corporate identities:Fonts
Fonts should be readable and inline with your company’s image and message. If non-standard fonts are used, make sure to get a copy of them and ensure they are not copyrighted.Raw Files
At the end of your design project, ensure you receive the raw graphic files from your designer, as there may be a time in the future where you’ll need this files to make update to the design. This can save you time and money. To many time clients are frustrated by the costs of simple update because the entire design have to be re-created in order to update one small item.Colours
Your logo should be able to view on a light background as well as a dark background. The colours of your logo should be used to enhance your logo, not define it. Ensure you see a black & white version of you logo, as this will be used in places such as B&W printouts and faxes.Vector-based Logo
Be sure to get a high-resolution version of your logo (300 dpi or more) and if possible a vector-based version. Vector-based versions allow designers to resize the logos to any size, even 20ft for billboards, without losing any quality. This is in contrast to Raster-based, which are can lose quality when resized or when printed, appearing “fuzzy” or distorted.Gradients, Drop Shadows
Avoid gradients, drop shadows and other effects for your logo. Your logo should be simplistic in nature and able to used on multiple mediums such as print, online, and on clothing. Gradients, drop shadows will hinder what you can use your logo on and may cause issues for other graphic designers that may be doing work for you in the future.
